1975 Equality Quilt Top
This quilt top was acquired from one of the women who made it, Karen Smith. She explained that it was the project of a 1975 quilting class taught by Pam Hammond in Chatsworth, California. Figural quilt, “Neal” c. 1978
Dated 1978 and found in central Florida.
“Neal” is embroidered on the hand-painted velvet angel. There’s a small patch that says “male” included near the top edge. It includes the universal peace symbol. To the right of the peace symbol is a landscape depicting a mountain valley with a river running through it. Stars seem to drift out from the angel. Continue reading “Figural quilt, “Neal” c. 1978″
